Over the years I have had the opportunity to experience God’s miraculous — from tens of thousands running to Jesus, to the blind seeing, deaf hearing and even the dead being raised to life. Unfortunately I have heard it preached, “You just need more faith!” Or “Stir up your faith!” When we hear this message, we are are often left confused; wondering how some walk in great faith, but others do not. I continually see people trying to confess more, and muster up more faith which is impossible!! The word of God talks about a “measure” of faith, the “gift” of faith, and the “fruit” of faith. But today I simply want to lay a foundation and bring some clarity to this thing called faith.
What Faith Is
Hebrews 11:1 tells us: “Now faith is…the substance (the beginning, the foundation, the starting point, the release that comes after you have counted the cost and surrendered all, and are willing to risk it all) of thingshoped for (that which you have a confident expectation and great certainty for), the evidence (the divine impartation implanted in your spirit that boldly declares: ‘It is already accomplished’) of things not yet seen (with the natural eye, but seen with great clarity in the eyes of the Spirit).”
What Faith Is Not
II Corinthians 5:7 states, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” Faith will never be our own ability to believe a promise or a truth; and will never come from our own efforts to push doubt and unbelief away through continual affirmations. Faith is divinely imparted from the living God—the Alpha and the Omega; the Beginning and the End. He is where faith begins and ends! As we seek Him, a birthing takes place that boldly declares, “It is so!” Faith is not intellectual. It cannot be mustered up because it is spiritual. Faith is of the heart, not of the mind. Faith has never been about our ability to “count it as done,” but is a deep reality divinely implanted in the heart that acknowledges “It has already been accomplished!” It is only what Christ can give because He is the author and finisher of our faith.
How does Faith Come?
There is a faith that moves mountains, yet we become consumed and preoccupied with the mountains. We must seek the faith that will move the mountains, destroy the strongholds, heal, deliver, set free, and restore! It is Jesus who is the “author and finisher of our faith.” If then faith begins and ends with Him, why would we ever try to manufacture it? It is He alone who can impart the very faith we are seeking! “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

Have you ever known something so strongly that you just couldn’t ignore it?
This is what happened to Peter in Matthew 16. In vs. 13, Jesus asked His disciples,
“Who do men say that I am?
When Jesus asked His disciples this, they told Him, “Some say you are a prophet, or a man who had died and has come back.” They had all kinds of ideas of who Jesus was. Then in verse 16 Peter makes an amazing statement! “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” Jesus responded, “Blessed are you, Peter, for flesh and blood did not reveal it to you.”
Jesus was flesh and blood standing in front of them. Do you understand what Jesus said? In effect, He said, “Simon, I did not tell you this. You heard directly from My Father who is in Heaven.”
Listen to what Jesus is saying.
Jesus tells Peter that he is blessed. Why? Because, he has heard from the Father in Heaven. This is one of the great truths of the bible. Anytime someone is blessed – the blessing is coming from God Himself!
So, when Jesus tells Peter he is blessed, He is letting him know that God has become involved in Peter’s life.
Jesus said, “You have heard from my Father who is in heaven.” How could this be that Peter heard from the Father? We know there wasn’t a loud voice. We know that it didn’t thunder and lightning like it did with the children of Israel on Mount Sinai. Peter simply heard the still small voice, and it was so simple that Jesus had to tell Peter it was from the Father.
It is this STILL, small voice that needs to lead and direct our lives.
Anything we gather outwardly by our senses that is not REVEALED INWARDLY by the Spirit will NEVER transform or change the lives of others or ourselves.

Have you ever received a gift that you did not need? Sometimes it happens that way that someone gives us a gift that we really don’t need (or sometimes even want). Our heavenly Father only gives good gifts; and one of the best gifts that He gives us is the ability to fellowship with Him by the hearing of His voice—that still, small voice inside you that lets you know that you know that you know that God has spoken. It starts at the point of salvation when we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God has done something supernatural inside us. That is a great gift designed to bring us joy and make us more fruitful for the kingdom.
Why does God choose to give us this gift? Because He knows that this strong knowing is a source of many blessings. In Isaiah 55:10-11, the prince of prophets tells us what blessings we receive when God’s spirit speaks to our spirits. The first gift is that we will become an oasis in the desert. The water of God’s word makes our hearts good, moist, fertile ground; able to bear much fruit. Next we will bring forth and bud. We will suddenly begin to manifest the fruit of God, and He will bring forth His desires into our lives. Third, He will give us seed to be sown. God will give us revelation to share with others to feed them or to bring freedom into their lives. Number four, he will give bread to the eater. As we share with others what God has spoken to us, we will continually be replenished; and we will always have more than enough.
The fifth gift Isaiah tells us about is that we will receive the assurance that what God has promised, He will accomplish. One more blessing from hearing His voice is that God wants to prosper us. Verse 11 declares that God’s word will prosper the thing He sends it to. He sends His word to you and me; so that means that He intends to prosper us. He will speak salvation into you. Salvation means to be saved, healed, set free, delivered, and blessed of god. He will speak concerning your parents, your children, and your work .Any and every area of your life will be prospered by the hearing of his voice.
